Dress Like A Duchess!

Kate Middleton
All the rage this spring is colored skinny jeans and you know its BIG when the Duchess of Cambridge jumps on board! The Duchess was spotted rocking coral skinny jeans, supposedly by J. Brand! I personally love her parisian take on the trend with a classic silk scarf and a nautical-inspired blazer. Here is the recipe to get Kate's look:

1. Start with a skinny jean in a bright color of your choice. A pretty blue could be a great alternative to the coral.

J. Brand Twill Skinnies in Bright Royal $176
J. Brand Twill Skinnies in Coral $169
2. Next, add a blazer. You can opt for a navy just like Kate or white is a great option with just as much longevity in your closet.

Willow & Clay Double Breasted Fishtail Blazer  $98

Central Park West Willow Lodge Blazer $151

 3. Lastly, top it all off with a statement scarf that compliments the color of the skinnies that you choose!

Missoni Printed Silk Scarf $345
TOUCH Silk Print Foulard @Mango $50

Marni Collaboration with H&M Debuts Tomorrow!

Marni's collaboration hits H&M stores tomorrow!!!! I am super excited for this, especially for the jewelry! Marni is known for it's simple silhouettes, bold prints and statement jewelry and this collection will be nothing less. Unfortunately for me I will not be able to face the crowds tomorrow but I will try to sneak by later in the day or wait for the returns to trickle in. Here are my MUST HAVES:
Drawstring Collar Color Blocked Dress $79.95
Color-blocking is huge this spring season and we all know my love of cobalt blue and mustard! ;-)

Yellow Leaves Necklace $49.95
This necklace is MAH-JOR! I love the yellow and it looks almost tribal which is another trend I expect to see a lot of this spring.
White Flower Necklace $39.95
I love how modern this floral necklace is. It screams, "I'm MARNI!"
Silk Drawstring Collar Color Block Top $59.95
Again, color blocking…BUT it also has neons!!

Gold Jacquard Silk Ankle Pants $79.95
OK, this is a bit out of the box for most but if my buttocks can fit into these I'm going for it! Printed pants and gold are going to be all over the place in no time and I plan to attack the trend with these pants!

Good luck to all the shoppers out there tomorrow! Be nice and try to save something for me! ;-)

Ruffian Ruffled My Feathers!

The designer duo at Ruffian hit all of my sweet spots at their Fall 2012 runway show! Ruffles, tweed, curls, red lips, dresses, leather, and lace! It was a collection inspired by the English countryside with luxurious fabrics and menswear inspired silhouettes. I personally saw hints of 1940s fashion accented with 1920s art deco baubles. I conjured up images of Marlene Dietrich walking the runway with her iconic suits, blonde curls and red lips.

This collection was made for a girl that lives a life involving countryside getaways and glitzy romantic dinners. Kate Middleton perhaps?

The tweeds and plaids paid homage to the english countryside where the fabrics originated from.

Riding attire appeared to be an inspiration as well with leather blocked pants and jackets as well.

Leather separates paired with soft lace and sheer blouses played up the juxtaposition between the two. The duo design team is known for their play on juxtapositions each season.

HATS! A huge trend seen all over the runways for fall, was done oh so well at Ruffian! The hats were reminiscent of a private investigator mysteriously tilted over one eye complete with a deco brooch for a touch of glitz. Deco baubles and belts accentuated the colors and played up the waistlines of the models.

The buzz in the crowd was all about the nails! Purple and red velvet! Gorgeous, but not necessarily the easiest to wear.

Take some cues from Ruffian this fall and wear a hat, rock a red lip, and pair menswear jackets with sexy feminine blouses for a gorgeous look worthy of the Duchess of Cambridge!

City Chic Done Right at DKNY Fall 2012 Show

DKNY's show was a scene created to look like a fashionista walking down city streets. Models entered the warehouse space from the street with a typical NYC yellow taxi framing the doorway. The runway created intersections with models crossing paths. It was so very New York.

The overall look was very feminine with a tough edge this upcoming fall. Monochromatic looks in all black and bordeaux became interesting with differences in texture. She mixed it up using fur, leather, wool and even alligator! Color blocking from spring was taken to a whole new level by blocking the fabrics instead. A fur and wool blocked jacket, wool suit with leather piping, or even a mesh blocked dress were all spotted.

A wide figure flattering belt gave this bulky fur coat shape and the peplum hemline gave this tough alligator skirt movement and shape.

Matching suit wear, a trend seen all over the runways for this fall, was given a feminine twist with bold asian-inspired floral prints and a tie neck blouse.

Donna grounded each look with platform ankle wrap booties complete with some metal bead detailing. A definite fall must-have!

Take a note from DKNY this fall and rock colored fur, wide belts, and feminine hemlines for a minimalistic flirty look!
