Ruffian Ruffled My Feathers!

The designer duo at Ruffian hit all of my sweet spots at their Fall 2012 runway show! Ruffles, tweed, curls, red lips, dresses, leather, and lace! It was a collection inspired by the English countryside with luxurious fabrics and menswear inspired silhouettes. I personally saw hints of 1940s fashion accented with 1920s art deco baubles. I conjured up images of Marlene Dietrich walking the runway with her iconic suits, blonde curls and red lips.

This collection was made for a girl that lives a life involving countryside getaways and glitzy romantic dinners. Kate Middleton perhaps?

The tweeds and plaids paid homage to the english countryside where the fabrics originated from.

Riding attire appeared to be an inspiration as well with leather blocked pants and jackets as well.

Leather separates paired with soft lace and sheer blouses played up the juxtaposition between the two. The duo design team is known for their play on juxtapositions each season.

HATS! A huge trend seen all over the runways for fall, was done oh so well at Ruffian! The hats were reminiscent of a private investigator mysteriously tilted over one eye complete with a deco brooch for a touch of glitz. Deco baubles and belts accentuated the colors and played up the waistlines of the models.

The buzz in the crowd was all about the nails! Purple and red velvet! Gorgeous, but not necessarily the easiest to wear.

Take some cues from Ruffian this fall and wear a hat, rock a red lip, and pair menswear jackets with sexy feminine blouses for a gorgeous look worthy of the Duchess of Cambridge!
