Rain, Rain GO AWAY!

As I watch the dreaded hurricane Sandy approaching the East coast I cannot help but frantically text all of my friends and beg them to grab water, batteries and bread and put their shoes up high. The texts all came back, "Calm down! You're more worried than we are!" So, I will calm down doing what I do best…thinking about how I would dress with impending rain storms. Here we go with a little whimsy to cheer up the gloomy days ahead.
I swoon over this Frenchie inspired Dorothy Perkins Ivory Poodle Jumper, get it on SALE here. This would definitely bring a smile to my face!
Zara Quilted Trench Coat, get it here

Dying over the details on this coat!

Citizens of Humanity Grey Avedon Skinnies, get it here
I would wear my Burberry pink wellies but they are super old! Try a Hunter boot perhaps?

Good luck to all of you braving the storm! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that all of the batteries and water are not needed! Stay safe!

xoxo,

Miss Beanie

DC Date Night

Its getting close to the weekend and I hope you all have some fabulous plans! Perhaps a date night or a girls night out?!? Here is some inspiration to get you in the mood for a sexy night out! This was my outfit from a dinner in DC to celebrate my birthday.
Vintage Fur cape via ebay, Blue MaxAzria bandage dress via Marshalls, Louboutin heels

Loving my vintage Dior necklace that I picked up at a market in  Paris.

Vintage ring found at Payne City Antiques in Macon, GA, Deco Bracelet that was my wedding gift from the hubbie

These Louboutins are fantastic because they have this blue and silver metallic swirl that takes up your basic black pump a notch. These also happen to be the ones signed by Christian Louboutin for me at a signing event a few years back!
I had to share these photos from shopping before dinner! These necklaces are so intense! Possible DIY?

Beside the restaurant was this awesome shop with Asian and African made pieces! Check out these necklaces! Major statement pieces!

I died over the red necklace! May need to call the store and have it shipped...

fun beaded bracelets from India
I ended up changing to a plaid blazer for after dinner drinks at a bar. No drinks were going to get spilled on my mink! This blazer is from TARGET! And it has these great pin stripe lined sleeves and a red felt backing to the collar if you wanna pop your collar! Its a steal for $40!
get this plaid blazer from Target here

The art deco brooch on the blazer is from Last Call by Lydell, get it here. Silver snakeskin clutch by Urban Expressions, similar here
Have a great weekend and send me your date night looks! I'll feature my favorites next week for some more weekend inspirations!

Dinner in Bollywood

Bollywood took over the Spring 2013 runways as seen at Marchesa and I took some inspirations from these shows last night!

I love Indian food and I thought that I would test out my culinary skills with an Indian dinner at home.I have only been attempting to cook for a few months at this point and my biggest advice to anyone would be, "Keep it simple!" Thinking back to days of college when Sandra Lee hosted "Semi Homemade", I decided to get myself in the mood with some decor and, of course, an outfit! Bangles, scarves and pashminas immediately came to mind. I decided to use some of the pashminas and scarves for table decor. I took some crystal lotus votives and went with it! Here is the outcome:

Are you ready for this menu? Garlic Naan with apple cranberry chutney, raita and red pepper hummus, Madras Lentils, Jodhpur Lentils and Punjabi Kadhi Pakora with Basmati Rice. Before you feel impressed I have a confession. As for the food, I did it the semi-homemade way like Sandra Lee would have done. I got Garlic Naan from the bakery of the local Publix and brushed it with olive oil and put it in the oven at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Voila! I took spicy red pepper hummus out of the container and put it in a pretty crystal dish and sprinkled some cumin on top. The apple cranberry chutney is delicious and by Stonewall Kitchen, again from the local Publix. The Raita (a cucumber mint yogurt dipping sauce) wasn't as easy to find at Publix and I did actually make it. I used this recipe and it was Beanie approved. The rest was literally 90 seconds in the microwave a piece! I tasted each and added spices as I felt they needed but aside from a little lime juice and cayenne pepper, everything was already perfect! I used TastyBite 90 second brand for the Lentils, Super Kohinoor and for the Dumplings and Uncle Ben's 90 second Basmati Rice.

We had a great dinner topped off with a sweeter Pinot Noir to balance the spicy food. I got major brownie points! And I got to use my new Jonathan Adler china!

You can thank me later… ;-)

Happy Birthday, Miss Beanie!

This weekend I celebrated my twenty-something birthday! I've always loved birthdays and this year was no different! And to top it all off, it just so happened to coincide with a trip to Alexandria, Virginia! Needless to say it was filled with family, friends, presents, and lots of desserts!

Missoni for Target shawl (last year), Highlighter Yellow Shirt - J. Crew, Black Old Navy Rockstar Skinnies, Michael Kors over-the-knee Bromley boots from MK outlet - last seen here, YSL Muse Bag - Neiman Marcus, Zebra scarf from street market in London - similar here, Wrap Bracelets - J. The cape was super comfy and oh so chic! Worried about looking like a magician while wearing a cape? Have no fear my dears! Read my cape tutorial here.

Birthday Dinner at Bastille in Old Town Alexandria = DIVINE!
Thanks to all of my family and friends for the birthday love!

Snapped in Paris Twins

I'm a HUGE fan of Olivia Palermo's style, as I'm sure many of you are, and I love her snapped series on her blog. Well, today I saw her snapped photo in Paris and it looked eerily familiar!

Snapped in Paris - Olivia Palermo wearing a Tibi Blazer, Rebecca Taylor top, Hudson jeans and Report boots,  Chloe bag and Westward Leaning Sunglasses. See her entire post here.

Turns out back in 2009 on a trip to Paris, I had my outfit photos taken in the same spot! Excuse the blurry images!

Ernest Sewn black jeans (similar here), Dolce & Gabbana silver snakeskin ballet flats (similar here), Trina Turk Peplum top (similar here), Paul & Joe Sister cream leather jacket with zipper and ruffle detail (similar here), Roger Vivier calf hair studded purse (similar here).

Catherine Malandrino blue sundress with lazer cutouts (alternative option here), Brian Atwood powder blue python heels (alternative option here), Louis Vuitton Berkeley bag here, Chanel scarf

It happens to be the peaceful courtyard of a beautiful hotel, Relais Christine. It was once an abby founded in 1231 and then it was renovated into a private residence (CRAZY!) and now its an intimate boutique hotel with luxury accommodations. I remember our room overlooking the courtyard being HUGE which is rare for a Paris hotel. Keep in mind for your next vacation to the city of lights!

Word Play

I am craving the hottest trend on the blogosphere right now: GRAPHIC TEES! It's such a fun way to grab attention towards your outfit and make a statement…or joke. I'm going out today to find one that suits my personality but here are some of my personal favorites from my lovely co-bloggers. Enjoy!

Tiffany from Tiffany Style Blog wearing a McQueen tee that I gave to her from Naples, Italy!

Rach from The Pink Peonies wearing Kate Spade Tee

Blaire from Atlantic-Pacific wearing ASOS sweater

The Man Repeller wearing an ironic tee from American Apparel at #NYFW

Feeling inspired? What would your perfect graphic tee say about you?!? Extra credit given to comments left below that make me giggle! ;-)
