In a Mod Mood

Given all of the 60's inspired mod trends for this Spring, I've been eyeing some color-blocked mini skirts a la Twiggy for quite some time. When I saw this one on sale, I had to have it! It just so happened to be the exact shade of blue as my fave Lauren Conrad blouse. How cool are the flower embellishments on the shoulder?!? It reminds me of Marni! And lastly, I'm so proud of my earrings found at Forever21 that look exactly like Erickson Beamon

Coat - old (similar), Top - Lauren Conrad via Kohl's (on SALE! for $14), Skirt - Vivienne Vivienne Tam at Last Call, Bracelets - found them at a flea market in Spain (similar), Boots - Michael Kors, Purse - TJ Maxx, Earrings - Forever21, Sunglasses - Spitfire via Nordstrom

Blair Waldorf Moment

Coat: H&M, Ruffle Capelet: Vintage, Skirt: H&M, Tights: Spanx, Sunglasses: Spitfire via Nordstrom, Gloves: Portolano, Deco shoe clips worn as collar bling: Vintage, Earrings: Forever21, Bracelets: Forever21 and Ann Taylor, Boots: Kathy van Zeeland via TJ Maxx, Fur collar: Vintage, Purse: YSL
So, I had a Blair moment on the Upper East Side wearing ruffles, peplum, a bow tie and a pink wool coat. The only thing I was missing was a bejeweled headband. The day after "Nemo the Blizzard", the gals and I decided to go grab some macaron's from Laduree and stroll through Central Park. Did I mention it was FREEZING? But the raspberry macaron made up for it. ;-)

Shout out to Carlton Maxey over at H&M at Atlantic Station for helping me find the perfect pieces for NYFW! If you live in Atlanta, go visit him!

Oh and can I please point out that these were NOT the shoes meant for this outfit but when Nemo comes and you have 5 inch Nicholas Kirkwood shoes that you may or may not have wiped out in that morning you immediately surrender and put on your "trekking through the snow" boots.

Oh and just in case you needed a laugh for today, I was splashed by a cab on my way to lunch in between shows at Lincoln Center. I was really upset until Tiffy pointed out that Carrie Bradshaw was splashed in a fabulous outfit on SATC and then I was elated! Splash me again!

Alice + Olivia Fall 2013 Presentation

The designer, Stacey Bendet for Alice + Olivia
An up close shot of the designers accessories including her A+O plaid nail wraps!
The Alice + Olivia show was one of the highlights of my NYFW! (Shout out again to Meagan Owen of Meg Your Pardon blog!) It was so over the top and fabulous that I didn't want to leave! Stacey Bendet, the creative genius behind the brand, threw a fashion fete like no other. Not to mention that the show was littered with celebs like Katherine McPhee, Vanessa Hudgens, Tinsley Mortimer and Johnny Weir. And they must have heard that I was coming because she was serving my meal of choice: champagne, french macarons and cake pops!

The warehouse space at the Highline Stages was transformed into a shabby chic space complete with Marie Antoinette style furniture, oriental rugs, one extravagant chandelier and musical instruments hanging from the rafters.

The models were decked out in every possible embellishment you could think of: feathers? check! crystals? check! leather? check! studs? check! pony hair? check! animal print? check! For most, that may seem overkill but for me I say, "Bring it on!" The designer's inspiration was drawn from street style. During a time when street style is so BIG, why not make it bigger?! This was her take on fantasy street style: what she would wear if she really could wear anything and go anywhere. I say, "Bravo!" As I'm known for wearing things not because of the occasion but rather because of my mood, why not wear quilted leather wedge boots with stud details to walk down the street?!? I was in sartorial heaven to say the least. For those of you not so smitten by the over-done, I say take one item and make it your statement, pairing it with basics.
My personal favorite look. Feather peplum wins my heart every day!
The hair was a messy Heidi braid by Moroccanoil topped off with red roses…totally DIY-able for a headband. The lips were the perfect plum lip using Stila's Merlot Stay All Day Lip Vinyl Gloss. From the looks of the shows, it seems red is out and burgundy is in.

Ravishing beauties at the show.
And then there were the shoes and bags….DIE!

An up close look at the Stace Face Pump available in red or green side details…AKA my birthday present this year.
The A+O team debuted their legwear collaboration with Pretty Polly. The nude and black swirl tights were my fave! I hate to see you go, but I LOVE to watch you leave...
AH-MAZING legwear debuted at the presentation.

As I begrudgingly headed out the door to trek back uptown in the frigid weather towards Lincoln Center, the A + O girls knew just what to do to cheer me up! A goodie bag filled with Alice + Olivia for Stila liquid eyeliner that stays on FOREVER, Moroccanoil for the locks, red nail polish and Polar Seltzer water was just the pick-me-up I needed to finish my fashion packed day.

A+O didn’t disappoint and I cannot wait to get my well-manicured hands on these looks! Do you spy anything that will be making a jump into your fall wardrobe?

NYFW = Absolute Craziness

If you've been following my twitter, instagram or facebook you know I've been a very busy fashionista. To be very real, I'm exhausted, my feet hurt, I'm living off of Fiber One bars that they give out at Lincoln Center and I've never been happier! I've met some of my designer idols, I have made some fabulous friends and I have met some celebrities that are so nice! Here is a mid Fashion Week recap of what all I've been doing.

There may have been a blizzard and I may have fallen once, almost fell another time and got splashed by a cab.

I've seen 21 shows in the first 4 days and my favorite was Monique Lhuillier. Although, being in the same room as Diane Von Furstenburg was quite thrilling, I couldn't enjoy the show because I was looking at Anna Wintour's reactions the entire time. Here is a snippet of a video that I took of DVF dancing down the runway after her show…she hugs Anna Wintour and grabs my new fashion week friend, Emily's hand as she goes down the aisle.

I met one of my favorite ready to wear designers, Catherine Malandrino, at her presentation on Sunday and was so thrilled! Her collection was gorgeous and her French accent was oh so chic! She is the definition of French Chic.

I met Miss J Alexander not once but twice! The first time we were walking into Tadashi Shoji and the guards didn't recognize him and wouldn't let him in and so I (Miss Beanie to the rescue) went to the PR to help him while he waited patiently and kind of laughed it off. After the show I tweeted about it and he replied to my tweet!!! Then I saw him at Zac Posen last night and we had a moment and took a photo together…Photo will come shortly!

Oh YEAH! We attempted to go to the Zac Posen show using our Press Credentials and the PR team said if there was any room left in the Media Pit after their pre-approved media were settled in then we could go…we waited patiently to no avail. BUT, we got to stand and watch every single celebrity and editor go through to the show. After the show, Hamish Bowles touched my arm and posed for a street style photo! OMG!! I may have squealed. Photos to come soon!

I made BBF (Blogger Best Friends) with Meg from Meg Your Pardon (cutest blog name EVER!) while at DVF. Turns out, I know her friend Kelsey from last February Fashion Week and she asked me at Lela Rose if I minded if her bestie sat between us. Turns out, Meg is the girl that sat on my lap at Lela Rose! Go figure! Look at her now, at DVF all by herself! You go girl! She was my partner in crime for the Zac Posen stalker session! Be sure to check out her blog, she is so stinkin' funny and whoa cute!

    NYFW Fall 2013: Tadashi Shoji

Tadashi Shoji wowed us with his elegant dresses and opulent details at his Fall 2013 show. Inspired by the fall of the Russian Empire, the collection embodied the juxtaposition of the Russian royals fleeing the country through the tundra for Serbia wearing peasant garb to be undetected.
Tadashi Shoji in his typical bright garb giving interviews backstage.

Hair backstage at Tadashi: Inspired by "girls running through the tundra".

Icy manicures by China Glaze backstage at Tadashi. White with flecks of glitter to imitate the snow.

Makeup backstage at Tadashi: Icy eyes and berry lips. The lips were inspired by "the girls biting their lips" as they fled Russia.

One of my favorite looks at Tadashi - baroque velvet!

Gorgeous Ice Princess dress at Tadashi

Pink and Black lace tiered gown.

Statement gowns with pearl and lace details.
    Pearl encrusted lace at Tadashi.

As the show opens, snow falls...

All time FAVORITE look at Tadashi…from Russian Royalty to Red Carpet Ready.

Me leaving Lincoln Center wearing Sequins and Fur.
