Kiss the Rain Goodbye

Umbrella - Felix Rey,  Purse - Fendi, Shoes - Nicholas Kirkwood (similar), Top (actually a dress) - (similar), Skirt - Forever 21 (similar), Trench - Karen Millen (similar), Necklace - DIY (similar), Lipstick - Urban Decay F Bomb
So as soon as I saw this umbrella a few weeks back when I did this post, I knew I had to have it! And now that I have my Fendi bag monogrammed for Beanie (BNE) the outfit was ready to go! I attended a brunch hosted by the fabulous Fashionado and with the thunderstorms approaching, the umbrella had its debut! The striped dress is very fitted and not meant for a Sunday brunch, so I topped it with my beloved faux leather skirt from Forever 21 (remember that post here). The red jacket could actually be worn as a dress but I opted to wear it as a topper. And these shoes…well, you are all probably sick of hearing me profess my love for Nicholas Kirkwood but here I go again. These shoes made quite the impression at NYFW and may have been part of my pratfall in front of Lincoln Center.  They are some of my all time favorites.

Get the Look for Less: Isabel Marant

Go Tribal

These tribal pants have been on my radar ever since they debuted in Fall 2011 on the runway but the hefty price tag put a damper on that. Well, now the look is easily achieved if not duplicated with inspired designs by the likes of Forever 21 and Zara. I think they are perfect for this summer! What do you think? Would you rock these tribal embroidered pants?

Currently Obsessed: Lemon Yellow

Confession to make: I am obsessed with Lemon Yellow and Chambray. I cannot stop! It all started with a little pair of cap toed yellow flats last summer and now it is full blown including a purse. You all know about my love of high end designer bags: YSL, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Fendi…. but when it comes to a super trendy piece that I feel like I might not wear for more than one season I opt for a less expensive option. Enter Olivia & Joy! This bag has the perfect lady like shape with great gold hardware and in my favorite shade of citrus on super sale for a mere $35! As for the chambray…well there is an Instagram picture to prove it.  And as far as mixing patterns go, I took a color from the floral skirt and used it in a simpler striped pattern on top. The rule is…they match but in a subtle way. Stripes and florals are easily my favorite pattern combination.

Striped Sweater - LOFT, Dress worn as a Skirt - TJ Maxx (similar), Chambray Jacket/Cape - Current Elliott, Shoes - Tory Burch, Purse - Olivia & Joy (similar), Bracelets - Flea Market in Spain (similar), Sunglasses - Spitfire via Nordstrom

What is your favorite trend right now that you can't get enough of? Do you have a favorite way to mix patterns?

Cotton Candy

I am super excited for Spring! The flowers are blooming and the weather is beautiful out! I've been dreaming of pastels in pretty shades of mint and pink. So, the minute that I saw this lightweight mint textured jacket, I knew I had to have it! And I happened to have this mint trimmed blouse from the a while back (meant to be). I really want some blush or mint jeans to go with this look, but my white ones will do for now. And can we just talk about my new Devi Kroell snakeskin bag that I found at a Peachtree Battle Estate sale in Atlanta for 5% of the original retail value? That would be 95% off… SCORE! You can find them on Facebook here to get sale notifications.

Jacket - Matty M via TJ Maxx (similar), Shirt - Olive & Oak via TJ Maxx (even cuter version), Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - Ann Taylor from last season (similar), Bag - Devi Kroell, Earrings - Forever 21, Bracelets - J Crew from last season (even better version), Bauble Bar

Rebecca Taylor Spring 2013 Collection

This past Thursday, I got the opportunity to meet and interview Rebecca Taylor at an event featuring her Spring 2013 collection in the Cusp department at Neiman Marcus in Atlanta.  I've always been a fan of Rebecca Taylor's flattering silhouettes and feminine prints but this collection had an added element of cool girl flair. Read the interview below for the inspiration behind this collection!

The event was fabulous with champagne, raspberry macarons, and even a favor station to make your own candy goody bags.

Miss Beanie: It looks like you are sticking to your typical feminine style for this Spring but you are mixing it up this season with some washed denim. It seems more urban than your previous seasons. Can you tell me about your inspiration behind it?

Rebecca Taylor: Well its funny because a New York, urban feel was my inspiration behind this collection. I really wanted to be in Hawaii but I was working on my collection in New York so this collection is my vision of what Hawaii would be through the eyes of the urban landscape.

Miss Beanie: We definitely see that through the muted blues and the pastel florals. It is very icy.

Rebecca Taylor: Yes and it is a little bit of an easy rider feel, motor bike chic. Girls throwing their little silk dresses in their bag and hopping on the motor bike, like a road trip like feel.

Miss Beanie: Oh, I do get that vibe looking at all of the zipper details and leather accents. Really cool. What are the silhouettes you are most excited about for this spring collection?

Rebecca Taylor: I am really excited about the moto bike jacket in leather and tweed, it is doing really well for us. It makes any outfit feel hip and can dress any outfit down a little bit. I'm also really excited about the sheer blouses with the Hawaiian prints.

Miss Beanie: Who is the one celebrity that you feel like epitomizes the Rebecca Taylor brand and you would love to dress?

Rebecca Taylor: I actually really like Kristin Wig. She is really funny and I have a real appreciation for funny people. And she has really good style and seems like a really cool person.

Miss Beanie: Yes! Kristin Wig seems like she doesn't take herself too seriously which seems to be a Rebecca Taylor girl at heart! If there is one piece that a girl needs from your collection, which piece would it be?

Rebecca Taylor: We have this tweed jacket with the chain trim that is a quintessential Rebecca Taylor piece that has been updated through the seasons.

Miss Beanie: Thank you so much for your time and it was lovely to meet you!

Sneak Peek behind the scenes: After the interview, Rebecca Taylor was so friendly and she even stuck around to talk with me! She also complimented me on my eyelashes! She swore that I must use Latisse to get them to be so long! **swoon** I don't use Latisse, they are indeed all natural but I did a little happy dance for getting a compliment from the designer! Also, her New Zealand accent was so much fun to listen to!

Guess Sileno Color-Blocked Sandals - $79 (on SALE)

Although this picture was taken in Spring of last year, the look is still on trend. Orange is one of the hottest colors right now (shout out to Miss Emily Loftiss) and color blocking isn't going anywhere. The Louboutins are sold out from last season but these Guess sandals are super chic and oh so affordable! I especially love that the chunky heel is actually a skinny wedge from the back giving it a modern look.

Rachel Bilson is by far one of my favorite celeb style crushes. Who is your's?

Topped with a Cherry

Necklace - Fab'rik, Top - Finn & Clover via TJ Maxx, Jeans - Old Navy, Shoes - Prabal Gurung for Target, Purse - Fendi, Chevron Bracelet - Forever21, Fox Bracelet - Max & Chloe, Lipstick - Red Revival Maybelline

For last night's Rebecca Taylor event at Neiman Marcus, I opted for a simple black and white outfit with pops of red. It seems that I've been favoring the crimson hue as of late (remember here and here) but I can't get enough. So my new cherry red Fendi bag is going to fit in quite nicely with my new addiction. I'm waiting on the monogrammed luggage tag to come back. I opted for a monogram in honor of my blog - BNE for Beanie!! And this top is going to be on repeat for quite sometime.  It is the comfiest jersey material with a peplum flare and a white silk ruffled layer underneath. The best part? I got it at TJ Maxx the other day for a whopping $12.99!! STEAL!!

I love, love, loved everything by Rebecca Taylor and I cannot wait to share my interview with you all! Bottom line - check her out!

BIG thanks to Trina from Baby Shopaholic for snagging these photos of me!

These are the hottest shoe designers out there right now and if you want to get your well-manicured toes noticed this Summer, these shoes are the way to go! Each of these would surely create a buzz when you entered the room but also earn you some cool points with the fashion crowd. I personally love that the heel is the new way to create interest in a shoe. While colored bottoms are still a personal fave, why not have a poodle or parrot hanging out on your heel?!? And let me just say that Walter Steiger's curved heels were a hot trend at NYFW and will surely be all over the place in no time. And I know what you are thinking…those cannot be comfortable! Well, when I asked a fashionista wearing them if they were comfy the reply was a surprising, "YES!"

So, what do you think of these new kicks? Would you rock one of these pairs? Honestly, I would wear each and every one! Make your shoe the statement piece and let everything else be simple! Shop some more of my wacky shoe picks below!
